Travel
Kortrijk is about 80km west of Brussels, Belgium's capital.
By Plane
We recommend to fly to Brussels National Airport (Zaventem) (IATA code: BRU).
This airport is about 85km from Kortrijk. The most convenient way to get from the airport to Kortijk is by train. The train station is located beneath the airport.
- It takes about 1 hour 36 minutes and costs 22,30 euro.
- You can plan your journey on http://www.belgianrail.be/en/. (From = Brussels Airport – Zaventem, To = Kortrijk, set your date and time). There is a direct train from the airport to Kortrijk once every hour. The direct line is the train to Oostende and is the fastest.

(From = your location, To = Kortrijk, set your date and time).
By Bus
The there is a direct bus connection from the Kortrijk train station to the university. At the back of the Kortrijk station, take bus line 2, which runs every 20 minutes (even more frequently during rush hours). The bus stop "Universiteit" is right in front of the campus. The bus ride should take about 10 minutes (see route planner).
There is a ticket vending machine at the front entrance of the train station (where you can for example buy a 10-trip ticket which can be shared with other people). Alternatively, you can also pay for a single trip on the bus using a credit card. Further information about bus schedules and buying tickets can be found at https://www.delijn.be/en/.
To return to the city centre, wait at the same bus stop where you got off. The buses on line 2 make a loop after the bus stop "Universiteit" and then return to the train station.
By Car
You can plan your journey on Google maps. The campus has a lot of parking spaces that are free to use.
Accomodation
Participants should arrange for their own accommodation. There are plenty of hotels in various price ranges in Kortrijk, see e.g. Google maps. There are no hotels close to the campus, so we recommend to choose a hotel in the historical centre and take bus line 2 to go the university (see section Travel) (or take a 3.5 km walk).
We can recommend the following hotels which are close to the train station and the historical centre:
- Hotel Damier (4 stars)
- Hotel Focus (3 stars)
- Hotel Focus Budget (2 stars)
- Hotel Messeyne (4 stars)
- Ibis Kortrijk Centrum (3 stars)
- Parkhotel (4 stars)
- The Market (3 stars)
Another option is Ibis Styles Kortrijk Expo (3 stars). It is relatively close to the campus, but quite far from the train station and historical centre.
